BRANCHLAND, W.Va. — Dewey Edward Owsley, 71, of Branchland, formerly of Rum Creek, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 29, 2012, at St. Marys Medical Center in Huntington.
Born September 25, 1940, he was a son of the late J.B. and Stella Owsley. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Billy F., Harold D. and Richard; one sister, Deloris Carter, and one daughter, Patty Ann.
Dewey was a U.S. Marine veteran, serving two terms in Vietnam War. He retired from General Motors in 1999, after working for 38 years. His favorite pastimes were spending time with family, his dogs that he loved so much and his goat Peaches.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Darlene Clark Owsley; three sons, Dewey Owsley Jr., and Steven (Tina) Owsley, both of Cortland Ohio, and Clifford (Catlin) Owsley of Branchland; one granddaughter who was very dear to his heart, Angela Owsley; two brothers, Carlos (Barb) Owsley of Warren, Ohio, and Johnny (Gay) Owsley of Pecks Mill; one sister, Peggy (John) Terry of Sullivan Ohio, and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him very much. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at James Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis White officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill with Military Graveside Rites.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Lambert, Tyler Owsley, Jarrod Owsley, J.J. Owsley, Michael Paul, Ryan Prichard and Jim Ingram.
Visitation will be from 6-8 today at the funeral home.
