On January 16, Junior and Cadette Girl Scout Troop 2447 met at Ryan's in South Charleston for lunch before traveling on to the State Police Headquarters to tour the crime lab. The girls were met by Lt. D.L. Frye, who is a former Logan County resident, and taken to meet Cory, a forensic analyst. Cory explained the different forensic departments and answered questions from the girls. She and Lt. Frye then led the girls to meet a fingerprint analyst who explained fingerprints to the girls and showed them how they dust for fingerprints and check them for matches in their computer. The last stop was Cory's lab where she tests trace evidence. The girls were shown equipment a forensic analyst uses to test evidence such as glass, paint chips and gun shot residue.
