CHIEF LOGAN STATE PARK — The Chief Logan Recreational Center is now taking registrations for their first Fit Kids Mini Camp to be held from 9 a.m. to noon on August 6-9.

“We’ll be having different activities for them,” said Terry Mullins, director of the center. “We’ll have karate, tennis, Zumba, games, swimming and even disc golf.”

Children attending will be divided into classes and by age group: 5-7 and 8-12 years old.

Mullins said she hoped the camp would motivate children to do more physical activities.

“Hopefully, we’d like to get them moving so that they can see that fitness is fun,” said Mullins. “We have the ages from 5 to 12, but if older kids want to come and work out, that is fine with me.”

Registrations will be taken up to the start date of the camp.

“This is the first time we’ve attempted something like this and I didn’t put a deadline on it because I don’t know what kind of response we’ll have,” said Mullins. “I hope it is a good response.”

Children who plan to attend the camp need to arrive at the camp each day with tennis shoes and comfortable play attire. They should also bring a swimsuit, towel, goggles

(optional), and a healthy snack and drink.

Cost of the camp is $40 for recreation center members, $60 for non-members.
