Four meetings with Johnson Central, Ky.
The Logan High School football team, ranked No. 10 in the state in this week’s Class AAA ratings, suffered its first defeat of the season on Friday night with a 46-12 loss to Johnson Central at Paintsville, Ky.
Logan (3-1) fell to 0-4 all-time against the 4A Golden Eagles, which came to Logan last year and won 36-6 over the Wildcats.
“We have to make sure that this game does not beat us twice,” Logan coach Gary Mullins said. “We have to bounce back on Monday. I thought our guys played hard and with a lot of intensity. We just got beat by a better team.”
Logan quarterback Chris Marcum was 7-for-14 passing for 124 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Khaleel Reynolds was 4-for-9 for 59 yards.
On the ground Logan was held to 25 rushes for 126 yards.
Marcum had eight carries for 72 yards. Brynden “Worm” Street had six rushes for 20 yards, including a 7-yard touchdown run. Reynolds had four attempts for 12 yards. Kade Doss added one carry for four yards.
Reynolds also had four catches for 84 yards, including a 29-yard TD grab. C.J. Williams had two catches for 59 yards. Josh Rein added two grabs for eight yards. Doss reeled in one pass for 17 yards. Street had one catch for three yards.
Brian Craft punted twice for an average of 46 yards a kick. He missed his only PAT.
Clayton Marcum led the Logan defense with 11 tackles. Street had nine tackles, while Tyler Vernatter and Teddy Nelson each had six stops. Tyler Workman, Thomas Hunter and Doss each had five tackles.
Nick Turner, Brant Williams and C.J. Williams had four tackles each for the Wildcats. Matt Cox had three stops, while Brian Ball, Stephen Dilly and Tyler Yeager had two each. Chris Marcum, Preston Hepler and Jacob Browning had one each.
Street also had an interception and caused a fumble. Doss also caused a fumble.
Logan returns to action next Friday night at home against county rival Chapmanville.
