MAN — Make that double digit wins for the Man High School volleyball team.
The Lady Billies improved to 10-2 on the season with Thursday night’s 3-2 win at home over Buffalo at the Man Memorial Fieldhouse. Man won 10-25, 25-23, 8-25, 25-15, 15-12.
Lady Billies’ coach Orlando Washington said his team played well.
“Summer Sword continued her consistent play for the Lady Billies,” Washington said. “I also feel like Sarah Grimmett’s game is improving in some areas and freshman Summer Combs is continuing to improve each time out.”
Man lost to Buffalo 2-0 in the JV match.
Coach Washington said he’s happy to see Man’s volleyball program take off. Man began the season by winning the Logan County championship with victories over Logan and Chapmanville on Aug. 30 at LHS and have never really let up.
“This is the best start we have had since I started coaching the team. So I am pleased that we are winning, but I am not happy with the amount of mistakes we keep making in our matches,” he said. “Our main goal this year is to become the first volleyball team at our school to make the state tournament. To achieve this goal we have to stop beating ourselves by making a lot of misstakes and move more in our matches.”
The Lady Billies are off until Oct. 2 when Tolsia comes to Man to take on the Lady Billies. The first serve is set for 6 p.m.
