PALENSTINE, W.Va. — Elva Kelley, 55 of Palestine, W.Va., passed away at his residence Friday, September 21, 2012, doing what he loved, providing for his family.
Born in West Hamlin, he was a son of Burley Kelley and the late Romain Rakes Kelley. Also preceding him in death was a niece, Rhonda Adams Woody; three nephews. Baby Joe Taylor, Patrick Lee Adams and Joey Allen Taylor; father-in-law, Dewey Tomblin Jr., and one aunt, Inez Carter.
Elva loved hunting, fishing, playing cards and vacationing and playing Euchre Partners with Steve and Deb Payne.
Survivors include his loving wife, Nora Tomblin Kelley; children, Kernie Sue (Chris) Deringer of Forrest Ohio, Kenneth Ray (Tiny) Kelley of Dingess, Kari (Stan) Kelley of Parkersburg, and Kayla (Jon) McKee, Nora R. Deringer-Kelley and Debra L. Derringer-Kelley, all of Palestine; grandchildren, Rebeka “Beka-Boo” Michelle McKee of Palestine, Anna Bell Deringer of Forest, Ohio, andDaniel Lee McKee of Sycamore, Ohio; five brothers, Clyde Delmar (Sue) Kelley of Crawley Creek, Raymond (Rachel) Kelley of Branchland, Burley (Vickie) Kelley of Huntington, Floyd Kelley of Wayne and Jerry Roberson of Alabama; eight sisters, Donzel (Ronnie) Adams of Harts, Marie (Tim) Kirk Taylor of Hamlin, Weltha Kelley of Wyoming, W.Va., Elzinia (Possum) Ferrell of Monaville, Mondella Kelley of Huntington, Kathy Townsend of Louisiana, Mary (Tubby) Workman of Branchland and Shelia (Bobby) Basadre of Chapmanville; mother-in-law, Kernie Carter Tomblin of Palestine; brother-in-law, Dewey R. (Sandy) Tomblin of Sheffield Lake, Ohio; four sisters-in-law, Regina (Leonard) Hallman of North Ridgeville Ohio, Tonya (Terry) Morrison and Juanita (Richard) Cope, both of Palestine, and Jody Darby of Loraine, Ohio; uncle, William Carter of Sycamore, Ohio, and loved by many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 27, at Freeman Funeral Home with the Rev Junior Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery/Hoover of Big Harts Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at funeral home. Visitation was also held Monday at Matheny Whited Funeral Home at Elizabeth.
