CHRISTIANBURG, Va. — Sherman Perry, 78, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012.


Born December 16, 1933, at Wilsondale, he was a son of the late Jesse and Edna Moore Perry, and step-son of the late Dallas Adkins.


Sherman, a retiree of the U.S. Air Force, was known for his gentle spirit and his quick wit. He enjoyed his years of serving as a substitute teacher at Blacksburg High School. During the last four years, he spent winter months at Winter Haven, Fla., enjoying the camaraderie of his wonderful friends there.


Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Bonnie; daughter, Linda Eaton and husband, Mark, and granddaughter Sarah of Toano, Va., and a brother, Rodney Adkins of Barboursville.


Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel at Wayne. Burial will follow at the Maple Hill section of Dock’s Creek Cemetery.


Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
