SWITZER, W.Va. — Carl Cleveland Blankenship, 66, of Switzer, departed this life Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born December 29, 1946 at Holden, he was a son of the late Saul and Easter Sturgill Blankenship. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Connie Blankenship.
Carl was a retired coal miner, attended Mt. Gay Freewill Baptist Church and served as a U.S. Marine.
Survivors include one son, Carl B. (Freda) Blankenship of Lake; three daughters, Caren (Gary) Blankenship of Godby Heights, Chaté (Ira) Adkins and Lynzee Hunter, both of Switzer; one sister, Sue Williamson of Huntington, and eight grandchildren, Brianna and Autumn Blankenship, Cali and Haley Adkins, Richman “Buddy” II and Jared Vance, Thomas “JJ” Hunter and Lacelynn McNeely.
Services will be held at noon Thursday, October 11, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Layton Lockhart officiating. Burial will follow at Vance Cemetery at Holden.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
