PEACH CREEK, W.Va. — Jack Junior Blankenship 62 of Peach Creek/Rossmore went home to be with The Lord Friday, December 14, 2012, at his residence.
Born October 6, 1950, at Holden, he was a son of Madeline Baisden of Rossmore and the late Thurmond Baisden. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Charlie Edward and Gary Wayne Blankenship.
Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, serving in Vietnam. He loved being around people and would drop everything to help anyone at any time. He enjoyed working on and fixing cars. Everybody who met Jack loved him and he never met a stranger. Jack loved spending time with his grandson Matthew. He was also a member of the Crooked Creek Church of Christ.
Additionally, those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 34 years, Merry Carol Blankenship; and his son, daughter-in-law and grandson, Matt, Jennifer and Matthew Adams of Mitchell Heights; three sisters, Juanita (Everett) Rice of Wharncliffe, Nedra (Denny) May of Browning Fork and Brenda (David) Ferguson of Varney, and his best friend, Melvin “Jimmy” Spears.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, at the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Secrist officiating. Burial will follow at the Whitman Cemetery in Crooked Creek.
Visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral.
James Funeral Home of Aracoma is in charge of the arrangements.
