LOGAN, W.Va. — Joan Scaggs Jeffrey, 87, of Logan, passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
Born October 25, 1925, in Logan she was a daughter of the late Marvin and Blanche Dial. Also preceding her in death was her husband, A.D. “Buster” Scaggs Jr., and sons, A.D. “Skip” Scaggs III and Larry Wade Scaggs, all of Logan, and a sister, Dorothy Tomblin of Cleveland, Ohio.
Joan was a member of the First Christian Church and attended the First Baptist Church of Logan for many years. She loved golf, bridge, family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, James R. Jeffrey; daughter, Sharron Scaggs McLemore of Logan; son, Ross (Pam) Scaggs of Huntington; brother, Marvin (Zetta) Dial of Winter Haven, Fla.; Dr. William (Dr. Jamie) Jeffrey of Charleston, and Terry (Steve) White of Snow Shoe; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at noon Thursday, December 20, at Honaker Funeral Home with Reverend Rex Thompson officiating.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Dr. William Jeffrey, Ross Scaggs, Jr., Wyatt Scaggs, Michael Winter, Bobby Greene, Marvin Dial, Kane VanHuss and Fredrick Adams M.D.
Honorary pallbearers are Neal Scaggs, Roger Scaggs, Jerry Scaggs and Owen Osenton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
