MAN, W.Va. — Jacqueline R. Brown, 85, of Man, formerly of Mallory, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 28, 2012, at Logan Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
Born November 10, 1927, at Lorado, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Mercedes “Teed” Cook Lusk. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Harold A. Brown.
Jackie was a 1945 graduate of Man High School, and a retired secretary formerly employed with Man Appalachian Regional Hospital, Princess Coal Company at Mallory, and Pittston Coal Company at Rich Creek. After her retirement, Jackie worked harder than ever as the treasurer of the Triadelphia Country Club for 30 years where she played golf five days a week when she was able. She was a member of the Old Man High Alumni Association where she served as the treasurer for 25 years. Jackie was a long time member of the Mallory Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Dale A. (Beverly) Brown of Huntington and Danny Joe Brown of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three grandchildren, Wendy Maynard of Huntington, and Michael Brown and Jonathan Brown, both of Grand Rapids; two great-grandchildren, J.D. Berry and Jordan Maynard, both of Huntington; three sisters, Rosa (George) Cobb of Cyclone, Charlotte (Dal) Beatty of Orlando, Fla., and Mavis Toler of Man, with whom Jackie made her home; four brothers, Robert (Frankie) Lusk and Joe Lusk, both of County Line, Gene (Peggy) Lusk of Mount Clair, Va., and James Richard “Dickie” (Barbara) Lusk of Twin Falls; a special caregiver, Lisa Curry of Mallory; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 30, at Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Zane Gray officiating. Honoring Jackie’s request her remains have been cremated.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Old Man High Alumni Association, 309 W. McDonald Ave., Man, WV 25635.
