VERDUNVILLE, W.Va. — Taylor Meade, 76, of Verdunville, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born November 26, 1936, at Verdunville, he was a son of the late Elisha and Mearl Sutphin Meade. Also preceding him in death was his son, Kevin Dell Meade, and sisters, Gracie Sargent, Joyce Spry, Frankie Bragg and Exie Dingess.
Taylor was a disabled coal miner, a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea, and attended the No. 20 Whitman Community Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Janet Carey Meade; one daughter, Kathy Powers of Verdunville; two grandsons, Evan and Sean Powers, also of Verdunville; one granddaughter, Kasey Meade; daughter-in-law, Melissa Meade of Dingess; two brothers, Ray Meade of Whitman and Hally Meade of Indiana, and a lot of good friends, including Bill Wilcox.
Services will be held at noon Saturday, December 12, at the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joaquine Ooten officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be George Adams, Dennis Meade, Wilbur Runyon, David Meade, Charles S. Hopkins and Jeremy Bowen.
James Funeral Home of Aracoma is in charge of arrangements.
