• Kevin Whitt, 35, of Mallory has been charged with two counts of grand larceny on two different dates and locations. The criminal complaint for the first incident says Whitt called for Randall Clark to pick him up and take him to a location behind C & L at Kistler, where he loaded two big tool boxes in the car. When Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies asked if the boxes belonged to Joey Bragg, Whitt replied he didn’t know. Clark called someone to come and look at the boxes and she confirmed they belonged to Joey Bragg. Whitt unloaded them at Clark’s house and left. The value of the boxes was set at $10,285.36.
• The second complaint documents an incident involving both Kevin Whitt and Brittany Browning. Browning’s mother was babysitting for the victim, Kimberly Miller. Miller says after Whitt and Browning were in her home, she discovered two watches, two rings and other items missing. The W.Va. State Police investigation found a witness who made a statement that Browning had tried to sell him watches matching the description of the stolen watches. The officer then found one of the stolen watches, which had been pawned at Uncle Sam’s. The victim positively identified the watch as hers and the officer took a statement from Eric Allen confirming Whit was with Browning when she pawned the watch. Bond for Whitt is set at $10,000.
• Curtis James Floyd, 37, of Logan, faces charges of driving revoked DUI, fraudulent registration, fraudulent motor vehicle inspection, failure to signal turn and no seat belt. W.Va. State Police stopped Floyd after finding out the registration had expired in 2012. The accused was not wearing seat belt and the officer learned Floyd’s driver’s license had been revoked for a DUI. The officer also found that the MVI sticker on the windshield did not belong on the vehicle. Floyd’s bond was set at $5,000.
• James Edward Lambert, 30, of Wilkinson, was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Rt. 44 near Omar. The W.Va. State Police investigated the accident and spoke to Lambert, who had been driving one of the vehicles involved in the crash. Because he noticed Lambert’s speech was slurred and his eyes were red and glassy, the officer administered field sobriety tests. Lambert failed two of the tests, but could not take the walk and turn test because he kept falling over. Lambert requested he be taken to Logan Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries. Patrick Hairston, another driver in the crash advised Lambert went left of center and hit the car in front of him and then hit his car. Kaleigh Burke, who was also a driver involved in the crash, told the officer she went into the ditch on her side, but Lambert came into her lane and hit her. Ms. Burke and her passenger were both taken to Logan Regional Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. Lambert was charged with DUI causing injury, reckless driving and left of center.
