CharlestonWVMommies is offering free membership to any mother looking for a safe, no-cost place to find support and encouragement as they take on the diverse roles involved in motherhood.
Amanda Fields is the Chapter Manager of the group including all of southern West Virginia. She believes that mothers working together can change the world — one family, one neighborhood, one community at a time.
“Our mission is to provide a safe, secure, free place for mothers to find support and encouragement from other mothers, empower them to be better women, parents and community leaders. Our philosophy is no one should have to pay a fee to make a friend, so membership is free to any mother who wishes to join. Members also gain camaraderie and support through an online forum that is available 24 hours a day and events around the area where mothers can meet face-to-face and develop real friendships that can last a lifetime”
The Mommies Network was founded in 200. It is a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping moms find support and friendship in their local community. Local volunteer teams currently operate 80 “Mommies” communities throughout the U. S., providing over 30,000 moms a free and easy way to connect.
CharlestonWVMommies is one of the network communities, founded in March of 2010 by Casi Chaffin. Since then, it has expanded to include all of southern W.Va. and the tri-cities area of Huntington, Ashland, Ky., and Ironton, Ohio.
According to Fields, there are nearly 100 members in the local group who regularly connect online and at area events each month. They have activities including play dates, park trips, Mom’s Night Out, morning coffees, and storytimes at local libraries.
The private forum, accessible only to members, is available for mothers to discuss everything from the best photographers to the worst temper tantrums and everything in between. The mothers also providehelp and support on topics including breastfeeding and children with special needs.
Fields says, ” Whether it’s a late night commiseration on a crying baby or a Mom’s Night Out, CharlestonWVMommies provides what our members need, when and how they need it.”
