Bob and Beverly Woods of Davin will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Monday, February 11, 2013.
Bob, a native of Davin, served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1963. He worked as an electrician in the mines and later retired from Rockhouse Creek Development Co., on January 17, 2003. Bob enjoys working with wood, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Beverly, originally from Greensburg, Pa., graduated from Greensburg Salem High School in 1959. She enjoys reading, crafts, working in her flower garden, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Bob and Beverly met while Bob was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. They were married in 1963 in Alaska. They settled down in Davin to raise their children. Both Bob and Beverly have been active members in their community. Bob was formerly a Boy Scout leader. Bob and Beverly currently volunteer for Logan County FIRST Robotics Team 337.
They have three children, Robert (Robyn) Woods Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., Katharine (Eugene) Ellis of Bruno and Donna (Tim) Clark of Amherstdale; four grandchildren, Lora Jo Woods of Jacksonville, N.C., Brandon Ellis of Bruno, April Woods of Virginia Beach, and Kayla Clark of Amherstdale, and two great grand-daughters, Ashley Roberts and Callie Woods, both of Jacksonville, N.C.
Bob is the son of the late Lawrence and Icy Woods of Davin. He is the oldest of three boys (Bob, Earl, and Lawrence Woods Jr.). Beverly is the daughter of the late James and Anna Mae Gertrude Lohr of Greensburg. Beverly is the third child of six (Annabelle, Dory, Beverly, Helen, and twins Jim and Jack).
The couple attends Claypool Methodist Church.
