The Ladies Auxiliary of the Central Baptist Church met February 11 at the Central Christian Center for their regular monthly meeting.
Welcome was given by President Janet Doss, who also read from Psalms 29:1-3.
Prayer requests were taken, with special requests for Corey Townsend and family, Terri Rodigherio, Virginia Booth, J.C. Worf, Rev. Glenn White, Pastor Randy Skeens, Pam Queen and family, Tammy Blankenship and family and several others.
Dorothy Ellis gave the opening prayer.
Melody Adkins led the theme song, “Love Lifted Me”. Host Circle No. 2 members, who served refreshments, was recognized: Dorothy Ellis, Lois Farmer, Laura Vaughn, Marlene Justice, Sue Farmer, Linda Williamson, Cathy Duncan, Marlene Browning, Freda White, Lavern Dickenson, Anna Ellis, Helen Trent and Sherry Harrison.
Lois Farmer gave an inspiring devotion from Psalms 5:2-3; “The Times of Prayer” and Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto Me”. Farmer also read a poem, “The Difference Prayer Makes”.
Linda Markham treated the ladies with a reading of a couple of funny stories about moving a car for the snow plow and a hilarious job interview.
Jubilee, with members Donetta Curry, Melody Adkins and Margaret Small, sang “I Can Pray”.
Birthdays included Pastor Randy Skeens, Patty Mowery, Barbara Lanthorne and Geraldine Butler. It was announced that Debbie and Paul Evans would be celebrating their 44th wedding anniversary and Garth and Carole Doss Hensley was selected as Central Baptist’s 2013 Sweetheart Couple of the Year at the February 9th Sweetheart Dinner.
The Soup Dinner, held Wednesday, January 23, before the Prayer Meeting, was considered a great success. A Bean Dinner is planned for Wednesday, February 27, from 5-6:30 p.m.
A Youth Rally is being planned for March 9th and a 3-day revival with Rev. Bobby Burns is set to begin on Wednesday, April 17.
Sue Farmer gave the Treasurer’s Report and Doss read the minutes from the January meeting.
Discussion was held on possible fundraisers for the auxiliary’s Mother’s Day Dinner to be held May 13th.
The door prize was won by Beulah Williamson.
Mary Ramey gave the closing prayer and the blessing for the food.
