LAKE, W.Va. — Mr. Jess J. Turner, 96, of Lake, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2013, at Emogene Dolin Hospice House in Huntington.
Born January 26, 1917, at Logan, he was a son of the late Ira and Mary Ellen Higgins Turner. Also preceding him in death was his wife of 60 years, Margaret Louise Turner on January 25, 2013; brother, Tom Turner, and sister, Mary Nagy.
Mr. Turner was retired from the Laborers Union Local No. 543 of the Building and Trade Association, a member of the DAV and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp serving during World War II.
Survivors include his children, Jessica (Doug) Hager of Hewett, James (Connie) Turner of Dingess, and Wilda Baldwin and Clara Jeffrey, both of Cleveland, Ohio, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 21, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Doug Bell and Earl Akers officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at funeral home.
