A controlled purchase of crack cocaine enabled the Logan County Sheriff’s Office to get a search warrant for a residence in the area of Logan known as City View.
On February 19, 2013, Logan County Sheriff’s deputies of the US 119 Drug Task Force were accompanied by other members of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office to execute a search warrant on 55 Auburn Avenue, Apartment Number 2, which is the apartment of Amy Selvey. The search warrant was executed within 48 hours of the purchase of crack cocaine made from inside the residence.
When officers entered the apartment, they observed a man, later identified as Dominique Lee Simmons, 23 of Columbus, Ohio, standing in the kitchen area. During a search of Simmons, officers found $947 dollars in his front pocket.
Also found in the kitchen area was a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol, two clear plastic bags containing crack cocaine, two clear plastic bags containing powder cocaine, one set of digital scales with a white powder substance on it, as well as Morphine and Oxycodone pills. A butter box also found in the kitchen area had another clear plastic bag containing an unknown white powdery substance. On the floor in the living room area, were three small pieces of crack cocaine.
Simmons was arrested for possession of crack cocaine with the intent to deliver. He is currently housed at the Southwestern Regional Jail. He was arraigned by Magistrate Jeff Lane who placed Mr. Simmons on a $10,000 cash bond.
