McCONNELL, W.Va. — Bernie L. Brumfield Jr., 83, of McConnell, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013, at Logan Center Assisted Living and Elder Care.
Born July 7, 1925, in Dehue, he was a son of the late Bernie L. Sr. and Sina Faye LeMaster Brumfield. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Betty June Brumfield; one daughter, Kathy June Brumfield, and one brother, Wayne Eugene Brumfield.
Mr. Brumfield was a retired UMWA miner for Dehue Coal Company and proud member of the UMWA district 17. He also was a bus driver for PRIDE of Logan and Logan County Schools.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Joe (Barbara) Brumfield of Fairview Heights, Ill., and Michael (Pamela) Brumfield of McConnell; two sisters, Jewell Adkins of Huntington and Freda (Kenneth) Thomas of Linton, Ind.; grandchildren, Beth Peters, Miles Brumfield and Jason Brumfield; great-grandchildren, Kailee Peters, Miles Brumfield II and Aranda “Ace” Callen IV. A special thank you to the staff at Logan Center for their care and compassion of Mr. Brumfield.
At his request, Bernie’s body will be cremated and graveside memorial services will be held at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation to the institution of your choice.
All that knew him shall mourn his passing.
