GREENWOOD, W.Va. — Earnest Lee Osborne, 89, of Greenwood, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 26, 2013.
Born July 11, 1923, he was a son of the late William Dink and Ethel Osborne from Buffalo Creek. Also preceding him in death were ten siblings.
Mr. Osborne was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and earned the Purple Heart, European Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Metal. He was a member of the West Virginia Southern Horseman Associations. He was a devout Christian who was a member of the Greenwood Church of God and a former deacon for Curtis Baptist Church in Buffalo Creek. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, attending church and family gatherings. We love him and will miss him tremendously.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Eileen Vickers Osborne; nine children, Richard (Janice) Osborne of Logan, Ladonna Pack of Millers Creek, N.C., Phillip (Micki) Osborne of Lilburn, Ga., Janice (Sergio) Alcantar of Richmond, Va., David Osborne of Greenwood, Kathy (Michael) Elkins of Bob White, Gail (Larry) Saunders of Madison, Nancy (Tom) Foray of Rutledge, Tenn., and Timothy (Lisa) Osborne of Charleston; 12 grandchildren, Sean, Steve, Allison, Amber, Angela, Amy, Chad, Shane, Rachel, Ryan, Seth and Adam, and 18 great-grandchildren. He was blessed to have a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends who also survives him.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Handley Funeral Home with Donnie Elam officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park at Danville with Military Graveside Rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 of Madison.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
