MAN, W.Va. — Pearl Chapman, 63, of Man, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 13, 2013, from St. Mary’s Medical Center at Huntington after a long illness.
Born April 10, 1949, in Wayne County, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Beulah Tackett Jewell. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Charles Chapman; two daughters, Gail Cresong and Sheila Adams; two sisters, Sue Tackett and Jean Collins; and one great-grandson, Shyra Lee Cresong.
Pearl was a cashier formerly employed with Wendy’s at Man for 15 years. Devoted to her family, she was a homemaker and a wonderful mother. Pearl enjoyed planting and watching her flowers grow.
Those left to cherish her memory are seven sons, Chris Chapman and David Chapman, both of Man, Elmer Chapman (fiancée Lorraine Ford), of Columbus, Ohio, Kenny Chapman of Parkersburg, Chuckie Chapman of Red Jacket, Michael (Barbie) Chapman of Accoville, and Richard Chapman of Huff Creek; one son-in-law, Steve Cresong of Man; two sisters, Dolly Ratliff of Accoville and Amanda Jewell of Arizona; three brothers, Big John Jewell of Kistler, David (Sue) Tackett of Florida, and Bo (Sue) Jewell of Bruno; one sister-in-law, Shirley Chapman of Wharton; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the Man Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Gary Wilson and Rev. Richard Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Nelson, Robbie Pack, John Chapman, Cody Cresong, Steven Cresong, and David Wisecup.
