A Logan High School athlete has been diagnosed with AML leukemia and fundraisers have been established to help with his medical expenses.
Freshman Sklyer Miller was a starter on the LHS freshman football team and a member of the weight lifting team. He is a also member of the Logan High School Prayer Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and was selected as student of the month last fall.
“Skyler is an outstanding moral and ethical young man,” John E. Godby, LHS Prayer Club sponsor, said. “He is in Cabell-Huntington Hospital taking chemotherapy treatments and will be there for several weeks.”
The Logan High School Prayer Club is taking orders for a tee shirt that says, “Wildcats 4 Skyler” on the front. The shirt is white with an orange ribbon inserted in place of the “l” in Wildcats. Orange is the color of the leukemia ribbon in the fight against this type of cancer.
Anyone who would like to assist the family by purchasing a tee shirt can call Logan High at 304-752-6606 or after school hours, Godby at 304-752-7774, to place an order.
Tee shirts are $10. Donations are also welcome.
“Your assistance in this goodwill project will be greatly appreciated,” Godby said.
Also selling t-shirts to support Skyler is the New Life Freewill Baptist Church.
The t-shirts are orange, a color designated for leukemia, with the message on the front saying “Step back and watch this.” The back will have Skyler’s name and football number.
All sizes will be available up to 5X. The cost is $10 for sizes up to Large, and $2 for each size up. To order, contact Johnathan Click at 304-688-9531.
