CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Carmel “Bickey” White, 75, of Chapmanville, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 1, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born April 1, 1938, in Pecks Mill, he was a son of the late Burley and Irma White of Pecks Mill. Also preceding him in death was one son, William Rex “Bubby” White; seven brothers, Herbert, Bethel, Fred, Orville, Benny, Carl and Dallas White, and two sisters, Enola Ratliff and Retha Mae Adkins.
Carmel enjoyed going to church. He enjoyed listening to the birds of the morning, chewing his tobacco and loved driving his big truck. The day he passed away was his birthday and we had a birthday party. He knew everyone and said he saw angels. He waved to the angels and praised the Lord.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years, Janie White; one daughter, Angela (Bobby) Gullett; one son, Rodney Dale White (Crystal Vance); one sister, Irma (Judy) Ellis; two brothers, Dave White and Kelly White; five grandchildren, Billy Joe (BJ) Gore, William Austin Gore, Caiden Bias, Anita White, and Monica White, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at Freeman Funeral Home with Gary Browning and Moss Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tony Adkins, Brandon Napier, Bobby Gullett, Billy “BJ” Gore, Austin Gore, David Pridemore, Charles Price, Charlie Young and Mickey Addair.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Scarberry, Tommy Adkins, Kenny Barker, Phil Farley and other family and friends.
Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
