HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Clyde L. Wooten, 80, of Huntington, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center following a short illness.
Born August 21, 1932, in Holden, he was a son of the late Fred and Polly Blankenship Wooten of Holden. Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Donna Gordon Wooten; daughter, Kay LaRue; sisters, Virginia Hutchinson, Mildred Parsley, Irene Hammersley and Mae Adkins, and his brothers, James Wooten and Larry Wooten.
Clyde was a 1951 Logan High School graduate and a graduate of Marshall University. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Steele United Methodist Church in Barboursville, and retired from Nationwide Life Insurance Company after 37 years.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Thomas Wooten; two daughters, Kim (Mark) Rose and Stacie (Joe) Nahstoll, all of Louisville, Ky.; one son, Dr. Adam (Mandy) Wooten of Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Mary Lou (Leonard) Hovis of Logan; brothers, Tommy (Donna) Wooten of Lexington, and Howard (Lois Ann) Wooten and Bobby (Sharon) Wooten, both of Logan; sister-in-law, Betty Wooten of Logan; four grandchildren, Hunter and Logan Rose, and Madison and Connor Nahstoll, all of Louisville; special nieces and nephews, Gale (Gretchen) Hutchinson, Kasha Cohen, Debbie Wooten, Sandy (Jim) Shea, Kellie (Bart) Willis, Karen (John) Gregory, Kristen (Brad) Erdman, Jennifer (Lyle) McCarty, Julie (John) Zuspan, Jill Siegle, Ashley (Jeff) Robinette, Jack David “Butch” Parsley, Chris (Michele) Hovis and Chad (Sarah) Hovis; his great-nieces and nephews, Beth and Kevin Parsley, Nicole Cohen, Kaley Gregory, Zach Zuspan and Ella, Riley and C.J. Hovis.
Services will be conducted at l p.m. Monday, April 22, at Steele Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. John Sauvage and Rev. Ralph Sager officiating. Entombment will be private.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the church.
