The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) of Logan High School hosted an out of school rally for winter sports on Sunday, February 10.
The FCA Winter Sports Day included athletes and coaches from Chapmanville Regional High School, Man High School, Logan High School and Logan Middle School. Youth from bowling leagues, wrestling, and basketball participated in the event.
Each coach introduced their players and spoke about their teams. Inspirational speaker for the event was head basketball coach of Pikeville College Kelly Wells. His message was a challenge on how to overcome mayhem and adversity in life. Coach Wells’ team won the NAIA, small college, national championship in 2011.
A very active club at LHS, the FCA is enjoying a successful year. The membership meets on Fridays at lunch in Mr. John E. Godby’s classroom and a guest speaker, usually a former athlete, brings a devotional to the attendees.
The purpose of FCA is to build character, morals, ethics, and spirituality in youth that are active in athletics at their schools; though not all members are athletes, any student can attending meetings. FCA has charters in pro sports, college, high school, and middle schools around the nation.
