The Logan Middle School softball team closed out the season with a 13-5 record with Wednesday’s 13-7 loss at Winfield in the Mid-Valley Conference semifinals.
Kelsey Ward was 2-for-4 with a home run to lead Logan.
Stephanie Curry was also 2-for-4 at the plate, while Allison Click, Ashtyn Hylton and Stephanie Eplin all had hits.
Curry pitched and struck out six batters. She fanned 101 on the season. Ward struck out 35.
Click led the Lady Wolves on the season with a .481 batting average.
Lexi Hines hit .327 with one home run during the spring. Curry batted .321, while Hylton batted .283. Ward hit .278 this season with two homers.
Hannah Vance had a .263 average on the season, while Eplin had a .255 average. Chelsea Napier batted .250.
“I’m very proud of the girls,” LMS coach Danielle Dalton said. “We had a pretty good season with a 13-5 record. I could not have asked for a better group of girls to work with. (Logan High School) Coach (Randy) Robinette has a talented group of girls coming up next year. I see them doing great things on and off the field in the future. Would like give a special thanks to all my parents. All of you have been a big help this year. I don’t think we would have made it without you.”
LMS was coming off three wins heading into the Winfield game.
On April 29, Logan won 7-5 at home over Point Pleasant.
Click led the Lady Wolves with two hits. Madyson Ooten, Hines and Napier had one hit each.
Curry struck out six batters as she came in to pitch in the fifth inning. Ward struck out and fanned one.
On April 30, LMS hosted Eighth Grade Night and lost 11-4 and 9-7 to Winfield.
Click was 3-for-4 to lead the Lady Wolves in the opener. Eplin had two hits, while Hylton and Larra Elkins had one hit each.
Curry pitched and struck out eight.
Click was 3-for-4 in the nightcap with Winfield. Curry and Eplin had one hit apiece.
Curry pitched for LMS and fanned 10.
Last Saturday, Logan Middle won 7-4 over Ravenswood.
Curry paced the Lady Wolves at the plate as she was 2-for-3. Click, Ward and Eplin all had hits.
Ward got the win within the circle and struck out eight.
