MAN, W.Va. — Mrs. Mary Lou Nida Vance, 72, of Man, was born July 17, 1940, at Sprigg, a daughter of the late Franklin “Buck” Nida and Freda Compton Nida Cook. She passed on to her heavenly home Friday, May 18, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Mary was a member of the Mill Creek Church of God at Pecks Mill and also attended Hunt Freewill Baptist Tabernacle at Greenville and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the old Man Hospital.
Also preceding her in death was her first husband, Rush Marcum; grandson, Danny Vance, and a brother-in-law, Carroll Barker.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Thomas Franklin Vance; five sons, Frank Marcum of Charlotte, N.C., James (Linda) Marcum of Charleston, Tommy Vance of Logan, Danny (Sherry) Vance of Man and Tommy (Sandra) Vance of Memphis, Tenn.; daughters, Diana (Roy) Vanderpool of Plymouth, Ohio, and Sandra (Brandt) Morgan of Winfield; two brothers, Glen (Billie) Nida and Stephen (Rhonda) Nida, both of Crooked Creek; two sisters, Sue Barker and Jane (Rev. Curtis) Gibson, both of Garrett Fork; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a goddaughter, Tyler Chattin of Poca; two special grandsons, Noah Vance and Jamie Vance, and a host of other family and friends.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Bishop Trent Belford officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
A special thank you to Dr. Radha, Dr. Waris, Dr. Faridi, Dr. Marzouk, Dr. Como, the nurses and Dietary Department and especially the nurses in CCU and ICU at Logan Regional Medical Center. Thanks to those who prayed, visited, sent cards, calls and sent food or just came and sat with us. Your love and compassion meant more to us than you will ever know. May God Bless each of you.
