MALLORY, W.Va. — Eddie Lee “PawPaw” Collins, 77, of Mallory, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 31, 2013, from his home after a long illness.
Born January 22, 1936, at Greenville, he was a son of the late Everett Dalton and Sarah Bell Marcum Collins. Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Shelby Jean Birchfield Collins; his second wife, Janice Marie “Jean” Jewell Collins; one son, Eddie Lee Collins Jr.; two brothers, Frank Morgan and Gene Morgan, and several aunts and uncles.
Eddie was a disabled block mason and logger. He was a member of the Greenvalley Worship Center who attended faithfully until his illness. When he was able, he enjoyed fishing and working on cars. Devoted to his family, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters, Connie Adkins, with whom he made his home, and Shannon Berry, both of Mallory, and Sarah (Richard) Brown of Davin; five sons, Clet (Renea) Collins of Columbus, Ohio, Billy (Karen) Collins and Arthur (Christy) Collins, both of Davin, Jessie Collins of Mallory and Tony Collins of Winchester, Va.; one brother, Avery Joe (Mable) Morgan of Hamlin; 20 grandchildren, India Collins, Missy Collins, Billy Joe Collins, William Eugene Collins, Teddy Lee Robinette, William Scott Bailey, Brandy Collins, Aaron Ray Brown, Adam Lee Brown, Bobbie Jean Brown, Edward “Red” Brown, Bernie Compton, Emily Compton, Colton Sawyers, Marcus Chafin, David Edward Collins, Jessie Lee Collins Jr., Dustin Lee Collins, Tommy Lee Collins, and Brandon Lee Collins; six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 3, at Davin Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Claypool Cemetery at Davin.
Visitation will begin after 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
