A summer tradition begins in a couple of weeks when the District 2 Little League all-star baseball tournaments are scheduled to begin.
Chapmanville has been named host of the 7-8-year-old Coach Pitch all-star tourney. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 22 and will be played at Chapmanville’s Tracy Vickers Field.
The Mullens Little League is the host of this year’s 9-10-year-old all-star tournament, which is slated to get under way on June 29.
Then on July 6, the 11-12-year all-star tournament is set to get started. The Madison Little League has been named as the host of this year’s tourney.
Logan County is represented in the Little League all-star tournaments by Man and Chapmanville.
District 2 comprises various leagues in Logan, Mingo, Boone, Wyoming and McDowell counties.
Little League Baseball is headquartered in South Williamsport, Pa., and is a non-profit organization. It was founded in 1939.
The best-known event in the Little League calendar is the annual Little League Baseball World Series, which is held every August at South Williamsport.
Tournaments leading up to the World Series are held in the U.S. and throughout the world.
