Man critical after near drowning

A man is listed in critical condition after he nearly drowned in the Guyandotte River in Logan.

Media outlets report that nn unidentified man was pulled out of the Guyandotte River near the Water Street Bridge Monday evening around 5:30 p.m.

The man is reported to be in his mid 50s and was swimming in the river along with a woman and a 12 year old boy when he went under.

The young boy was able to pull the man to the riverbank still alive, but is listed as critically injured due to the near drowning.

The victim was taken to Logan Regional Medical Center.

As of press time, his name and condition have not been released.
