The Logan County Sheriff’s Department reported on Friday the discovery of a body in the Guyandotte River at Mitchell Heights.
Porter reported that at approximately 6 p.m. Friday, Logan County Sheriff’s deputies Cpl. M.C. Sutherland and Deputy J.A. Lyall received a call about a missing man in the Mitchell Heights area. He had been reported missing since about 3 p.m.
A family member had advised officers that he had went walking towards the river about that time. The Sheriff’s Department, Henlawson Fire Department and LEASA Search and Rescue deployed members to search the river banks and the river of the Guyandotte.
At approximately 8 p.m., they found a body that was later identified to be Richard Lee White, 66, of Logan, who was the person who had been reported missing five hours earlier.
County Coroner Mike Casey arrived on scene and Mr. White’s body was recovered from the river.
Porter reported that deputies and the County Coroner believe at this time that there appears to be no foul play involved.
