Andi Williamson and the Chicago Bandits just keep on winning.
Williamson, a rookie pitcher with the National Professional Fastpitch league team, upped her record to 6-1 on the season as the Bandits hammered the New York/New Jersey Comets 12-3 last Thursday at the Ballpark at Rosemont in Rosemont, Ill.
Chicago (25-6), winners of nine straight games, ended up sweeping the last-place Comets, taking Game 1 last Thursday, 11-1, Game 3 on Friday, 7-1, and then winning 12-5 on Saturday to take all four contests in the series.
New York/New Jersey fell to 5-27 on the season.
Williamson had no problem against the Comets last week as she continues to hold the best record of rookie pitchers in the entire league.
Megan Wiggins sparked Chicago as she blasted a three-run homer in the second inning.
Williamson struck out six and allowed just three runs in pitching seven complete innings.
In Friday night’s game, Michelle Gascoigne earned her fourth career win within the circle as the Bandits cruised to a 7-1 victory.
In Saturday’s win, Monica Abbott pitched Chicago to the victory as she improved to 13-1 on the season.
The Bandits were scheduled to hit the road this week to Florida where Chicago was slated to take on the second-place USSSA Pride in the Orlando area. The three-game series began on Sunday. Game 2 was Monday and Game 3 is set for Tuesday night.
Before the four-game sweep over the Comets, Chicago won four straight in a home series against the Akron Racers by the scores of 1-0, 4-1, 7-1 and 9-4.
