The Chief Logan Hunting and Fishing Expo is fast approaching the Coalfields of southwestern West Virginia and east Kentucky.
This will be the third annual event for the famed Hatfield and McCoy country bisected by the Tug Fork River. But this year’s much friendlier event will feature the renowned TV “repo” couple of Lizard Lick Towing’s Ron and Amy Shirley. Both are avid outdoor and country folks from North Carolina. And, they look like a perfect fit for the show.
The extravaganza will be held at the Chief Logan State Park and Conference Center grounds along Corridor G/US 119 at Logan, north of the Fountain Place Mall/Wal-Mart complex there. The Expo will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, August 24 and 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 25.
Adult admission is $5 and the first 500 children ages 12 and under will be admitted free courtesy of Gatti’s Pizza of Logan.
Other show events will include the return of the archery trick shot, Frank Addington Jr. He’s also known as the “aspirin buster” for amazing accuracy with the bow and arrow.
Kenny and Aharon Davis of Appalachian Big Game TV/Tachycardia Outdoors will also be on board. Another National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) sanctioned turkey calling contest will be emceed by two-time national gobbling champion, Chris Walls, who is also returning from last year.
The Logan County Chamber of Commerce has been extremely busy sponsoring the big event.
A host of booths, vendors and sponsors will be there to greet you.
A short list of which include but are not limited to the West Virginia DNR, NWTF, West Virginia Bowhunters Association, Cabela’s, Uncle Sam’s, the Hatfield McCoy Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, the National Rifle Association, Logan Motorcycle Sales, West Virginia University Extension Service, the Thornhill Auto Group, Logan County Commission, McDonald Land, Appalachian Power, Pepsi, Mining Repair Specialists, Keefer’s Power Sports, LB&T and many others.
