WILLIAMSON - If you have a little one that is a “beauty or a cutie”, then make sure you enter them in the 41st annual King Coal Festival Baby pageant scheduled for Saturday, September 21 at 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church (basement) located on 2nd Avenue in downtown Williamson.
The contest that is sponsored by the Williamson Woman’s Club is for girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 24 months. Girls will be judged in the categories of most beautiful, prissiest and best personality, and boys will compete for the title of most handsome, best personality and most active. The little ones will be divided into three age brackets, 6-12 months (judging begins at 10:30 a.m.), 13-18 months (judging at 11:15 a.m.) and the final group will be for those who fall into the 19-24 month group (judging at noon).
Trophies will be awarded to the winner in each age division and category and a certificate will be presented to each participant. Each child who is entered will be eligible to have their names put in a drawing for a monetary gift for one lucky girl as well as one boy. These prizes are being sponsored by City Insurance and Real Estate 2. Contestants are also invited to ride in the King Coal parade scheduled for 5 p.m. on the 21st (lineup at 4:30), but you will be responsible for providing your own vehicle, as well as signage.
You are welcome to take advantage of the opportunity to pre-register your child by obtaining an entry form from Heaven Sent in the Southside Mall or at the historical Coal House on 2nd Avenue in Williamson. A nominal fee of $10 will be charged for each contestant. You may also register the day of the event, but you will be required to be in attendance at least a half an hour prior for the judging in your age bracket to begin.
