CHAPMANVILLE — The Chapmanville Regional High School volleyball team ran its record to 2-1 on the season with Tuesday night’s straight sets victory at home over the Poca Dots at Chapmanville’s Danny Godby Gymnasium.
Chapmanville beat Poca 25-19, 25-20, 25-16.
The Lady Tigers, led by first-year coach Johnny Williamson, had opened the season last week by splitting against Man and Logan in the Logan County tri-match, which was also held at CRHS.
The Chapmanville JV team also defeated Poca 3-0. The Lady Tigers’ JV squad is also 2-1 on the season.
Coach Williamson said his team played well.
“My returning players are getting better every day. The first-year players are catching on quickly. If we continue playing like this I am looking forward to a great season,” he said.
The Lady Tiger netters were scheduled to get back into action on Thursday night at home against rival Scott. Chapmanville then goes to Sissonville on Sept. 17 before hosting Wayne on Sept. 19 and Herbert Hoover on Sept. 24. The Lady Tigers then go to Man on Oct. 1 and then to Logan on Oct. 3.
Man’s volleyball team, off to a 3-0 start, was slated to play at Tug Valley on Tuesday night. No scores were available.
