Members of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle accident at approximately 1 p.m., Sunday, September 15, 2013 at approximately 1:00 pm.
The accident took place at the intersection of U.S. 119 and Convention Center Drive. Cpl. B.D. Cobb and Deputy N.M. Booth responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they learned, Michael Porter, 19, of Harts, was driving one of the vehicles and was accompanied by his mother, Lora Porter and his sister, Latisha Porter. All three sustained serious injuries. They were transported to the Logan Regional Medical Center and then later airlifted to another hospital.
The second vehicle was driven by Vicky Adams, 55, of Chapmanville. She too received serious injuries and was initially transported to the Logan Regional Medical Center, then airlifted to another hospital in Charleston.
The deputies report Porter was traveling north on U.S. 119, while Adams was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto U.S. 119 from Convention Center Drive, pulling into the path of Adams.
The accident is still under investigation.
