Belfry rolls to win over Gallia Academy
GOODY, Ky. – The Belfry Pirates continued to roll as they defeated Gallia Academy of Gallipolis, Ohio 41-19 on Friday night at CAM Stadium in Goody, Ky.
It was homecoming for the student body of BHS and faithful Pirate fans.
Senior Trenity Carr rushed for 122 yards on 122 carries and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Pirates.
Speedy senior Justin Johnson rushed five times for 65 yards and a TD, while freshman Andrew Fletcher had 129 yards on nine carries and a score. Fletcher got some extra playing time due to some injuries on the Belfry roster. Starter Austin did not play due to an injury.
The Pirates only led 14-7 at the half, but scored 13 in the third quarter and 14 in the final quarter to pull away.
Belfry also saw some players injured in the Gallia contest, but their status for next week’s game is not known as of press time.
The Pirates rushed for 426 yards against the team from Ohio. They picked up 22 first down.
Senior quarterback Sani Warren connected with Keaton Taylor for a pair of touchdown passes. Taylor is one of the players who got injured in the game.
Warren completed five passes for 90 yards.
Austin Woolum once again was perfect on his extra-point kicks making 5-of-5 for the Pirates.
Defensively freshman Cameron Catron led Belfry with 11 tackles, T. J. Dotson had seven, Joey Duty and Dakota Stanley each had six and Hayden Hatfield five.
Belfry is now 6-0 on the season and will hit the road traveling to Knoxville, Tennessee this week to play Knoxville Christian on Friday night.
