MAN — The Man High School volleyball team improved to 14-6-1 on the season with two wins over Greater Beckley Christian and Tug Valley on Thursday night at home.
The Lady Billies beat Greater Beckley Christian 25-18, 25-17 and then downed Tug Valley 25-10, 25-21. Both teams are in Man’s Class A sectional.
Man is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday night at home against Sherman. The first serve is set for 6 p.m. The Lady Billies then play at 3A Lincoln County on Thursday night before playing in the Charleston Catholic tourney on Oct. 12.
* In other action, the Chapmanville Regional High School volleyball team was scheduled to play at Logan on Thursday but no results were available as of presstime on Saturday morning.
Logan had entered the match with a 3-15 record, while Chapmanville was 5-7. The Lady Tigers won the JV match 2-1 over Logan, 25-20, 25-13.
The Lady Tigers had recently lost a pair to Man and Lincoln County.
Logan had lost 3-1 at Westside on Oct. 1. The Lady Cats fell 25-8, 24-26, 25-6, 25-9.
On Sept. 28, Logan was 2-2 in the River View tourney, winning over Mountain Mission (Va.), 25-23, 25-20 and Tug Valley, 25-23, 23-25, 25-16 and losing to Westside, 25-4, 25-9 and also River View, 25-5, 25-19.
Back on Sept. 26, the Lady Cats were a 3-1 winner at Scott. Two days before that, Logan lost 3-0 at Sherman to drop to 0-12 on the season.
The victory over Scott was Logan’s first win of the season.
LHS was scheduled to play on Saturday at the Mingo Central Quad Match.
Chapmanville has four road matches ahead on its schedule as the Lady Tigers play at Scott on Tuesday, go to Mingo Central on Thursday, to Sissonville on Oct. 15 and to Wayne on Oct. 17. CRHS hosts its own tourney on Oct. 19 at Chapmanville’s Danny Godby Gymnasium.
