Runners and walkers are encouraged to sign up for the Julia Price Breast Cancer Foundation Spooktacular 5k run/walk to be held at Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 5 p.m., at Scott High School. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Julia Price Breast Cancer Foundation, whose funds are used to help local cancer patients with their medical bills and other expenses.
“Many people are affected by breast cancer — either they have it or someone they know has it,” said Janet Dent, the president of the Julia Price Breast Cancer Foundation. “We’re hoping to get more people involved by having a thrilling 5k is a way for the community to have fun while they’re raising money for cancer patients. I’m so proud of this event and the people who are supporting it.”
The 3.12 mile course starts adn finishes at Scott High School. The cost to enter the run/walk is $20. Check-in begins at 4:00 p.m. and the “Warm-Up-Your-Bones” dance begins at 4:30 p.m.
All runners and walkers are encouraged to dress up. Costumes must be appropriate for children. Costumes will be judged during the race, and a winning costume will be announced at the end of the race.
