Frontier Communications has extended broadband service to several hundred additional residents in the Gilbert, Lenore, Naugatuck and Baisden areas of Mingo County and the Hanover area of Wyoming County. In addition, businesses in those communities also have access to leading-edge services.
General Manager Zach Tomblin said the service expansion was made possible through subsidies from the federal Connect America Fund (CAF). The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has said broadband service is necessary for citizens to seek full participation in the nation’s economy and society. To expand broadband service, the FCC transformed the telephone-focused Universal Service Fund (USF) into the CAF.
“Frontier has expanded broadband service across West Virginia in an unprecedented manner during the past three years, and we now are leveraging our work through CAF,” Tomblin said. “This project opens doors of opportunity for local residents and businesses who now have access to our broadband service.”
Tomblin went on to say this announcement is only the part of what Frontier has done that is relevant to our area. The company has a significant focus on West Virginia as a whole.
“There’s a lot more to come. A lot more sites are planned and these are just the ones that have been released over the past two weeks or so. It’s great to work for a company that is making such a significant difference in our state and the lives of its residents and the services it offers to businesses.”
Tomblin encouraged residents to call 1-800-921-8101 toll free for information about service options. Residential customers ordering Frontier broadband for the first time can start at just $19.99 per month with a qualifying phone service, he said. The no-contract offer provides a two-year price guarantee for broadband service. Customers have an opportunity to bundle broadband service with telephone and television services and realize substantial savings, he added. Business owners and managers can call 1-877-501-5661 toll free for information about acquiring business-class speeds and Frontier’s $19.99-per-month broadband promotion.
In addition, Tomblin said, Frontier offers a satellite-delivered service – Frontier Broadband – that is ideal for many households that do not have access to land-based broadband service. He added that Frontier Broadband residential service delivers an impressive array of speeds that allow customers to stream video and use other high bandwidth applications – up to 5 Mbps download/1 Mbps upload to 15 Mbps download/2 Mbps upload.
