RITA - The West Virginia Department of Transportation has plans for a temporary bridge structure to provide access for Madison Creek residents. The bridge will be located at Madison Creek Road to Prince Street, off of Neibert Bottom Road.

Construction is expected to take approximately three weeks and cost an estimated $1.7 million.

The bridge will be a 70-foot temporary bridge structure composed of timber with three 12-foot diameter corrugated steel pipes, stone and rock to securethe pipes and structure underwater, and a gravel driving surface. The entire causeway will be approximately 180 feet long.

The installation of this causeway will result in the placement of 288 cubic yards of temporary material under water.

Work will take place seven days a week during daylight hours. No work will be done on Christmas and New Year’s Day.

The DOH expects the causeway detour to be in place less than a year.
