CMS comes from behind to beat Harts Middle, 42-39

HARTS — The Chapmanville Middle School boys’ basketball team upped its record to 7-1 on the season with Thursday night’s come-from-behind 42-39 win at Harts.

Adam Vance led CMS with 12 points. Dylan Smith also reached double digits in scoring with 10 points. James Ellis had eight, Austin Bledsoe five, Nathan White four and Joey Rainwater three.

Rainwater and Smith sat out most of the second quarter with foul trouble.

Harts’ top player, Drew Williamson, fouled out in the third quarter with three minutes to go and finished the game with 17 points. Ellis fouled out for CMS.

Kyle Browning added 11 points for Harts Middle. Ty Sturm and Carson Toney had four each. C.J. Dalton had two and Hunter Brumfield one.

Williamson and Browning had seven rebounds each. Browning, Brumfield and Toney each had three steals.

Harts (6-1) led Chapmanville 15-7 after one quarter and took a 25-14 lead at the half. In the second half, CMS outscored the Lions 28-14 to notch the win.
