“One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.” (Romans 14:5)
The apostle was discussing the individual whose faith was strong, and one whose faith was weak. He encouraged us not to pass judgment on the one whose faith was weak, but to accept him. One man’s faith allows him to eat certain things that another’s faith does not. We must not look down on the person whose faith does not allow him to eat certain foods. The Lord reminded us that it is not what goes in the mouth that defiles us, but that which comes out of our mouth. (Matthew 15:11)
The apostle also revealed that one man considers one day more sacred than another, while another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. We must respect what they decide, for none of us live to ourselves alone. Whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
The important thing is that we do that which we think is right concerning those issues that the Bible does not specifically make known what we should do or not do. We must seek the Lord’s leading and then do accordingly. That is what He expects His children to do.
We must be careful that we do ot pass judgment,
One the one whose faith is weak,
For out of our experiences we come to see things differently,
And to find what is best, God’s will we must seek,
We neither live nor die to ourselves,
For we belong to the Lord,
And when we trust Him wholly,
Our faith He will reward.
Dear Father, May I not be judgmental of those who do not believe as I do. Help me to accept the person whose faith may be weak. In Jesus name I pray. A-men.
