Scott gains season series split with Lady Tigers

MADISON — The Chapmanville Regional High School girls’ basketball team dropped to 11-6 overall and 8-2 in the Cardinal Conference with Thursday night’s 56-52 loss at rival Scott.


Scott, a Class AA sectional and Cardinal Conference foe, improved to 11-4 on the season with the win. The Lady Hawks are ranked No. 8 in the state.


Ali Whitman led Scott with 18 points. Maddy Weeks added 13.


Kristin DesRocher paced Chapmanville with a game-high 26 points. Shian Meeks tossed in seven points, while Lexi Martin had five and Abby Marcum four. NeNe Osborne and Hillary Hainer netted three each. Kortni Packo and Autumn Blankenship tallied two points apiece.


Chapmanville trailed Scott 16-12 after one quarter and 28-24 at the half. Both teams registered 15 points in the third as the Lady Hawks led 43-39 after three. Both tacked on 13 points in the fourth quarter.


Scott gained a season series split with the Lady Tigers. CRHS beat the Lady Hawks 49-37 on Jan. 17 at home.


The two teams could meet in two weeks plus when the Class AA sectional tourney is played at Logan High School.


Chapmanville was scheduled to return to action on Saturday at home against Wayne. CRHS is at Tug Valley on Monday before hosting Herbert Hoover on Wednesday and Mingo Central on Thursday on Senior Night.


The regular season finale is set for Feb. 18 at Sissonville.


The sectionals are set for Feb. 24, 26 and 28 at Logan.
