GILBERT - A Gilbert Elementary School teacher was arrested in Summers County on Saturday on drug charges.

Summers County sheriff’s Chief Deputy J.K. Farmer arrested Fredrick Huffman during a traffic stop on the Route 20 Bypass near Hinton, according to the arrest report.

Huffman, who was identified as a teacher at Gilbert Elementary School, faces charges of felony possession of marijuana, according to the report.

Farmer’s report states that he recovered more than an ounce of the drug, plus weight scales and a firearm, from Huffman’s car.

Huffman was in legal possession of the gun, Farmer said, but it will make it possible for the state to call for a stiffer penalty if Huffman is convicted of the drug crime.
