Logan, W.Va..– Logan Elementary School (LES) was recently awarded a $500 grant by McDonald’s® Owner/Operators of the Tri-State area through the Balanced, Active Lifestyles Grant Program. The school is one of 25 in the Tri-State chosen as a recipient of a grant.
The goal of the program is to encourage teachers to create educational programs that demonstrate an original approach to enhancing their students’ physical fitness, nutrition awareness and health education. The $500 grants must be used toward implementation of the winning programs.
The winning program at LES is “Walking Toward Wellness,” led by Grant Johnson. This program focuses on helping students learn about the importance of a healthy lifestyle through various aspects of diet and exercise.
Chris Connolly, Owner/Operator of the Logan McDonald’s, recently presented the school with a grant check and a plaque.
McDonald’s of the Tri-State area awarded $12,500 in Balanced, Active Lifestyles Grants this year to educational programs in southeastern Ohio, eastern Kentucky and central West Virginia.
