HAZARD- Downtown Hazard has become home to some mysterious decorations over the past few months. Tiny doors have been appearing overnight, adorning buildings all along Main Street.

The first little door appeared on the building that houses the law offices of Hollon and Collins. The door is an exact replica of the front door of the building, but is approximately six inches tall.

“I just think it’s the most wonderful thing,” Nancy Collins, attorney at Hollon and Collins, said.

Other doors began to appear soon after the first. The next one that appeared was on the side of the entrance to People’s Park on Main Street. This tiny door resembles a hobbit door; hobbits are tiny creatures that inhabit the fantasy realm of author J. R. R. Tolkien.

The third door manifested on the WSGS Radio building, and claims to be the home of Hazard’s smallest radio station, WTNY.

Kim Sparkman, with WSGS, said it must have taken a lot of creativity to come up with the idea and that at the radio station employees are just thrilled about it.

The last and most recent door to appear is on one of the columns on the front of the justice center. It is a set of double doors that apparently lead to small claims court.

No one seems to know how these doors are appearing or who is putting them up, but the consensus among patrons of downtown Hazard is that they are a welcome addition.

“They’re all over. They’ve surrounded us and it’s just adorable,” Sparkman said.
