There has been an emergency closure of the road at Madison Creek in Logan County. Residents must use the causeway.

According to Carrie Bly, Communications Specialist with the West Virginia Department of Transportation, the West Virginia Division of Highways has announced the need for an emergency closure of the old access road to Madison Creek Road in Logan County.

Construction is underway on a new portion of West Virginia Route 10, just above Madison Creek Road. The contractor over the project has expressed concerns for the safety of motorists, due to slipping of the hillside and the potential of heavy rains. The road will remain closed until further notice.

In January, construction was completed on a causeway crossing the Guyandotte River. The temporary structures’ primary purpose is to give residents of Madison Creek access to back and forth to their homes during these types of necessary closures.
