Billies go 2-1 in weekend road swing

The Man High School baseball team won a 13-11 slugfest against Oak Hill at Fayetteville on Saturday afternoon.

Braden Griffin was 4-for-5 at the plate with two RBI. John Thomas Keffer was 3-for-3 with four RBI. Kenny Joe Adkins went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Baley Beckwith was 3-for-5.

Cameron Simpson, John McCoy, Noah Maynard, Mikle Scott Rowe and Tyler Blair added hits for Man. The Billies had 17 hits for the game.

Keffer was Man’s starting pitcher. He was relieved by Simpson in the third. Maynard then pitched the last three innings and gave up one run and two hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

The Billies split for the day. Earlier on Saturday, Man lost 13-6 to host Fayetteville.

Keffer and Derek Messer had two hits each for Man in the game.

McCoy started on the hill for Man. Rowe relieved him in the second and Austin Cook tossed the final three innnings.

Liberty Raleigh 2

The Man baseball team won 3-2 at Liberty Raleigh last Friday night.

Kenny Joe Adkins had two hits for the Hillbillies.

Braden Griffin had a hit and an RBI. Cayce Mullins and Austin Gent had one hit each. Noah Maynard drove in a run.

Griffin pitched the complete game win for Man. He tossed seven innings and allowed two runs and seven hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

The Billies are slated to play at Mount View on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Man then travels to Lincoln County on Thursday at 4.
