Early Tues. morning, the City of Logan Firefighters responded to a fire at an abandoned building in Logan.

The fire started before 2 a.m. at a three-story building on Mountain Lake Park. By the time the firefighters arrived, they say that the building was already engulfed.

The W. Va. State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated, but did not make an official ruling. For the moment, the fire is being treated as suspicious, possibly arson.

“The building has been abandoned for a year now,” one of the firefighters said. “There are no utilities hooked up. No electricity to the building at all. Unless a lightning bolt hit the building, the only possible explanation is arson.”

Firefighters say the Fire Marshal will return later this week to make an official ruling on the case.

No injuries were reported in conjunction with this fire.
